So, as the picture here shows, we have put the house on the market!
We have been here just over 4 years, and while the house has been good
to us, we have changed enough that we want something different.
When we bought this house, we thought there might have been more kids
than the two. When we bought this house, we thought we wanted big
gardens in the backyard. We found out those changed over time. :)
The new house will be very close to the elementary school that the
daughter will be starting in the Fall(!). Close enough to walk her
there in the mornings. The new house will have a smaller yard which
will be easier for me to take care of. The new house will have lots
of common green space which will lead to parks for us to use.
Wish us luck. If you know anyone moving to the Houston area and wants
to live on the west side, send them to me.
Peace out.
So, tonight I turned off lone.duckland.org, and canceled the contract for it. This closes a chapter in duckland.org, and really, my life. I have run my own mail server since 1997. For the first few years, it lived in my house. Then, starting in 2001, it lived at a colo. The next phase was about three years ago, when I rented the hardware from another colo, but I still ran the box.
With the drive to simplify and go greener with the computing, I could no longer justify a full server just to handle email and web. So, after about a six month transition period (most of that time was spent giving other people using lone time to find a new home).
A chapter has closed.
As normal, if you see any issues, then send me email. If the primary email is not working, then send it to my gmail.com account, which is duckunix.
Peace out and green up!
The daughter is still growing like a weed, and is having lots of fun at her pre-school. She has also found a new friend, and is soo happy about it. One of the wife's friends just moved back in-country, and we ran into her at the grocery store. Said friend as a daughter who is one week under than my daughter, and they have hit it off famously. And the boys are already running away scared of these two. :)
